Ketogenic Diet : The Good The Bad The Ugly: Everything You Need To Know About The Ketogenic Diet (Weight Loss, Ketogenic Diet for Beginners, Ketosis, Keto Diet)

The ketogenic diet is a high fat, normal protein and low carbohydrate diet. This diet makes the body burn fats instead of carbohydrates as fuel for brain related functions. Normally, the body breaks down the food we eat and converts the carbohydrate in the food to glucose which is then transported around the body, including the brain, to serve as fuel. When the supply of carbohydrates to the body is stopped/limited, it forces the liver to burn the fats in the food into fatty acids and ketone bodies. These ketone bodies then serves as fuel for the brain functions instead of glucose. When the ketone levels in the body rises, the process is called ketogenesis and the state of the body is called ketosis. The ketogenic diet is also used in the medicinal field as a way to control epileptic seizures. There is a lot of research being done on ketosis especially because of its medicinal value. Ketone bodies have a positive effect on the body of a human. When the rate of metabolic ketogenesis increases, it serves as an effective way to treat diseases because ketosis and the presence of ketone bodies improves the health of the body at the cellular level. The presence of ketone bodies also changes the pathways of cellular energy and the health of the mitochondria.
